Capricorn Junior Netball Club Presentation to St. Helens Council 16 September 2015 Vicky Mousdale and Lauren Swift

Background  Founded in 2000, 15 years history  Sessions on Monday evening at Sutton Leisure Centre  High 5’s – primary age from age 5  Under 12 – year 7  Under 13 – year 8  Under 14 – year 9  Under 16 – year 10 and 11  Under 19  Approximately 120 children involved

Participation  Capricorn Junior Netball Club currently enter both league competition and tournaments across all ages including:  Merseyside Netball league  Cheshire Junior Netball league  North West Regional league  Various tournaments  Teams played across wide geographies; Macclesfield, Liverpool, Warrington, Hyde, Bury

Objectives of Club  Our objectives continue to be:  Encourage healthy lifestyle choices for all participants  Provide a safe environment for every member  Develop strong netball programmes to encourage development of skills  Ensure the correct level of coaching is available to all  Promote respect throughout the club  Continue to have fun!

Longer Term Plans  Continue to develop and increase membership  Capture a wider, more diverse population  Develop structured training programme throughout the club through experienced third party coach  Maximise the potential of each and every participant through individual focus  Increase volunteer effort to ensure further development

Application for Funds  Applied to St Helens District Sports Council for funding for £400  Two coaches completed level 2 England Netball Coaching Qualification (£720)  Success!

Benefit of Funds  The achievement of the qualification has specifically:  Developed new, modern coaching techniques to roll out across the club  Transformed confidence across the club for players, parents and other coaches  Identified areas for further development in coming months  Highlighted tactical improvements at individual and group level

And importantly…. We had even more fun!!!
