Know Edge Limited Location Information Innovation Session Objectives  Clarify the purpose, scope and contents of White Paper.  Highlight Strategic Framework components and links with Scenario Planning process.  Discuss the drivers of change and their corresponding impacts on the Geomatics Sector (detailed in appendix C).  Political / Governance / Policy Drivers  Economic and Market Drivers  Social and Demographic Drivers  Technological Drivers  Environmental Drivers  Others  Identify the drivers of change having the greatest impact on the Geomatics Sector.  This will help us shape our future and decide on where we want to be in 2020 (Agenda item 6). 3

Know Edge Limited Location Information Innovation Purpose / Scope of White Paper Interim Steering Committee direction  Develop a “White Paper” based on background research concerning key drivers, uncertainties and issues that need to be addressed as part of a pan-Canadian strategic approach;  Formulate a preliminary “strawman” vision for the Canadian Geomatics Sector and no fewer than three viable future scenarios for presentation and discussion at the January Round Table workshop; and  Provide a roadmap for the development of a Pan-Canadian Geomatics Sector Strategy. 4

Organisation:  There will be 4 separate groups for the breakout session.  You have 1 hour to identify the drivers and the impacts of each.  Each group needs volunteers for chair and rapporteur.  Use paper flip charts and templates to document results. Feedback:  Rapporteurs will provide feedback (5 minutes) on the top drivers of change and their impacts.  We will consolidate the change drivers and impacts for the entire group. 11
