What was done? Held Consultation meeting TA and Conservancy committee. Otjimboyo and Ohungu conservancy !Oe –≠Gân Traditional Authority, MET and Conservancy committee. #Gaingu conservancy LAC assistance in defining roles of TA Conservation (Consultation)

Lesson learned Information does not reach the TA Traditional leader are influential people in community TA expect benefits from the conservancy TA does have role in conservation – Traditional Act, Land reform Act

Challenges Poor Consultation with Traditional authority Lack of communication with TA Only few TA are recognized by Government Traditional leader resides outside conservancy area Poor feedback by ex–officio to Traditional Authority

Challenges continue…. Little involvement in conservancy affairs Power struggle between Traditional authority and Conservancy committee

Recommendations Active participation of TA representative in Conservancy affairs Proper feedback system to TA Benefit distribution plan must be in place Constitution on TA roles in the conservancy Conservancy aimed at building good relation
