Presentation transcript:

Our concept was that we could effectively make a solar powered light that attaches to a hard hat and will provide a worker with adequate light when working at night after charging the batteries with the light on their head in the day.

We identified our concept by thinking…what would a worker look for whilst on the job that will assist in lighting their night work and then the idea sprung to mind, and a great one it was.

To take our design from concept to creation we did all the design work to a good standard, did all documentation and then all that was rally left to do was assemble the project.

Our project doesn’t relate to well too advanced manufacturing as we used an old soldering iron to assemble all the technical components. We could produce our project in a more advanced way by using modern day machines to mass produce it.

At the start of the year we chose our team by picking mates which had it’s ups and downs. We started out as a group of 5 but as we soon came to terms with the design we were to manufacture, we split up and changed designs. We organised our teams into groups of friends as we already get along and that way there wouldn’t be many disagreements and rough patches over the period of time we had to spend on this project.

Over the course of this subject we had help and mentoring from Gary. Gary works at UNI SA and was a big help. We wouldn’t have finished without him. He helped me master soldering. Another person who helped us was Mr voudantous. He gathered all our materials which without, we couldn’t have taken our design from concept to creation.

Jason, Daniel and myself have learnt from this subject that we like to produce new and innovative designs and like fiddling around with the components of and electrical system. I’m looking at becoming an electrician, Jason’s looking at becoming a diesel mechanic and Daniel is not quite sure yet. This has given us a better idea of what subjects we need next year.

Coming out of this we have learnt that in order to have a successful project you need to Stay on task and complete all the work that is required to pass, Know and maybe enjoy how to work with electrical components and always have a positive attitude. Don’t think that you won’t be able to do it because the more you think and believe it the, more likely it is that it will come true.

I guess if we were to revisit this concept again we would probably like to have more time, Access to different and better materials and we would definitely like more staff from UNI SA because Gary was always busy working with someone else. Waiting for help was surely a factor in time consumption.
