Bloodthirsty Bounty-Hunters You got yourself lost in a forest in the southern U.S.A. Now you are searching for food because you haven’t had a bite to eat in days. You hear a squeaky noise. Then you say, “ Who was that?” No one answered so you go searching. You look behind a bush an see a long-tailed weasel munching on a mouse. You are lucky and not lucky. The good news is that weasels are rare to find because they are small and fast. The bad news is the weasel can eat stuff two times the size of them. You better run.

Cousins and Types of Weasels  Their cousins are the fisher, the martin, the mink, the otter and much more.  These animals are in a group called mustelids.  There are three species of weasels the least, the ermine and the long tailed weasel.

Weasel Habitats  Weasels live in a variety of surroundings.  Weasels live in Alaska, Canada, and northern Mexico in dense forests and the tundra.

What Weasels Looks Like And Their Size  Weasel eyes glow in the dark.  Weasels have two coats so it is warm in the winter.  The biggest weasel weighs half a pound.  Weasels have lots of inner fur.  They are camouflaged. You can only see their black eyes.  Long tailed weasels are 28 inches. The ermine is 17inches. The least is7 and one half inches.

Weasels Can Eat  Weasels are amazing predators killing prey bigger than them like rabbits, mice, birds and squirrels.  Weasels can find their food with their sharp sense of smell.  There are only 4 to 5 ounces but they are strong.  Weasels aren’t afraid of anything.  It is active to get food after sunset.  They are bloodthirsty.  They zigzag quickly to get their food.  Weasels have a smelly liquid called musk.

Weasel Fun Facts  The long-tailed weasel can eat something that is 56 ins  The musk can smell worse than a skunk  Some weasels have yellow or orange bellies
