2 main parts Endocrine Glands – group of cells that secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream Hormones – chemical substances that help regulate many of your body’s functions.
The Master Gland: The Pituitary Gland! This gland controls just about everything in the body! Made up of 3 sections (lobes) Looks like this!
1. Anterior Lobe Anterior means front Produces the following hormones: Growth hormone – stimulates body growth and development
2. Intermediate Lobe Intermediate means middle Produces: Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) – controls the color of your skin!
3. Posterior Lobe Posterior means rear Produces: Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH) – controls balance of water in the body!
Now, how does the body deal with stress and emergencies? Answer: The Adrenal Glands!
