Eating the apple The food goes in the mouth it is chewed into little pieces by the teeth and is mixed with saliva.

swallowing The food is swallowed it travels down the food pipe to the stomach.

stomach In the stomach the food is mixed with lots of digestive juices. This breaks the food down into tiny little pieces that can be taken into the body.

Small intestines The tiny pieces of food pass into the small intestine. Here all the good bits /healthy sugars, nutrients, minerals some fats etc/ are taken into the body.

Large intestine The waste products and water pass into the large intestine, here all the water needed is taken into the body.

waste What bits are left after the large intestines are waste products. This leaves the body when we go to the toilet.
