Using adhesive tape in sports Rules for tape application – If the part to be taped is a joint, place it in the position in which it is stabilized If part is a muscle, allow for contraction – Overlap the tape least ½ the width of the tape – Avoid continuous taping – Keep the roll in hand when possible – Smooth & mold tape as you go – Allow tape to fit natural contour – Start & end with an anchor piece – When maximum support is needed tape directly on the skin – Do not apply tape if skin is hot or cold from treatment
