BE HOLY 1 Peter 1:13-19

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

1 Peter 1: And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Be sober (v. 13) Sober = not drunk, not dull headed Serious thinking (sometimes) There is a time to be serious, Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Don't conform to the world (v.14) Conform = fit the mold that the world has carved out for us We don't FIT the standards of the world We are a “peculiar people” Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Be holy (v. 16) Holy = saint, sactify, separate, set apart, dedicated to God Our conduct must set us apart Our lives must show that we are different, separate from the world, set apart

God will judge our work(v. 17) God will judge our life, our conduct, our work The standard to measure – the Bible John 12:48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him-- the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. We will be measured against the standard Will we measure up or be found wanting?

Live like you are saved (v. 18) Conversation (KJV) = conduct, how you are living your life, life style Are you glad you are a Christian? Act like it! Are you glad to be saved? Act like it! Are you forgiven? Act like it! Are you redeemed? Act like it!

Act like the blood of Jesus is important (v. 19) Where would you be without the blood of Christ shed on the cross? Treat the blood of Jesus as precious Treat the blood of Jesus as pure, no spots, no blemishes Partake of the Lord's Supper with respect and dignity

Be Holy 1 Peter 1: but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." Are you holy, like God is holy? Are living the life that God sees as righteous, sober, and holy?
