The following pages contain a number of architectural designs that can be applied to a broadband network. The application of the SPSM in a network is limited only by the creativity of the designer. Optional Design Methods Using SPSP Power Technology 1

The following example shows the addition of a new power supply at the remote location to backup the local power supply. The existing coaxial cable is being used to transfer power from remote location to local power supply. SPSM Sample Design 2

The following example shows the use of a power feeder cable or a separate coaxial cable to transfer power from the remote location. The cable carries A/C only. SPSM Sample Design 3

The following example shows a typical dual backup SPSM design. If the power supply fails at either location it is backup from the other location. SPSM Sample Design 4

The following example uses the trunk a/c port for powering at one location and multiple power insertion locations at the second. A standard power inserter is used to properly distribute power to the network. SPSM Sample Design 5

The following example shows how power feeder or coaxial cable is used to supply power between optical nodes. After a system upgrade there may be spare conduits or coaxial cable that can be used to power the network. SPSM Sample Design 6

In the following example two remote power supplies are used to backup the middle power supply. A high current load or long distance between power supplies prevent create high current draws. Another solution is to split the local powering into two sections, then backup each section from a different location. SPSM Sample Design 7

In the following example there are trunk amplifiers between power supply locations. In this case one of the power supplies will be used to power the trunk amplifiers between the power supplies. SPSM Sample Design 8

In the following example power feeder has been placed between the power supplies locations to provide a more efficient power scheme. This design also eliminates the amplifiers in the coaxial RF cable from impacting power loading as power fails and is restored. SPSM Sample Design 9

In the following example a new power supply location has been added between the existing power supplies. This design will provide backup to both of the existing power supplies. SPSM Sample Design 10

The following example is of a triple backup design using coaxial or power feeder cable between the nodes. Any two adjacent power supplies can fail and the remaining PS will feed the network. SPSM Sample Design 11
