Bird Adaptations: Beaks By: Halle Kirk, Ainsley Cohen and Laura McCarthy,

Spear beaks Birds with spear beaks have adapted to live near water to fish. Their beaks are adapted to catching fish and if they were moved to a place were there is no water like a desert, they couldn’t stick their bills into the ground to get insects because there beaks are adapted to spearing fish.

Shredder Beaks Birds with shredder beaks are adapted to eating meat. Their sharp curved beaks help them eat their prey, like mice, chipmunks, and other small rodents. The hawk has a shredder beak to help them rip off pieces of their food.

Swiss Army Knife Beaks The Swiss Army Knife beaks helps birds catch and eat all different types of food such as fish, fruit, seeds, insects and other animals. It’s a multipurpose beak.

Nutcracker beak A bird with a nutcracker beak uses its beak to crack nuts and seeds. The nutcrackers beak is short and stubby.
