Canteen Volunteer Communicate with donors Monitor donors for dizziness, nausea, and bleeding Offer refreshments Encourage appointments at next blood drive.
Reflection Initially surprised by how many people donate Loved the sense of community Learned more about the process of donation
Synthesis Collaborative Leadership Professional communication and collaboration Professionalism Assessing donors for safety.
Recommendation Gained a sense of community, working together to improve lives of others. Great learning experience for anyone interested in learning more about a great service. See it on a full spectrum donation through using it on the unit
Conclusion In conclusion I enjoyed the project. I found it very interesting to see how blood is collected and donated, then given on the units at the facility I work at. I was impressed at the sense of community at the drive. I also enjoyed using nursing skills in a non clinical setting, monitoring donors for those who do not tolerate the donation process well.
