A tank is a tracked, armored fighting vehicle designed for front-line combat A tank is a tracked, armored fighting vehicle designed for front-line combat BRITISH MARK IV TANK Notice where weapons Such as a torpedo or Machine gun can shoot From the sides

A machine gun is a fully automatic mounted or portable firearm designed to fire larger bullets quicker (rate of several hundred rounds per minute) and farther than ever before British Vickers Machine Gun Machine Gunners Above: looking for aircraft Side: looking ground level

Planes were used for the first time. First they were used to deliver bombs and spying. As the war progressed, fighter aircrafts were armed with machine guns and bombs. Fights between two planes in the sky became known as ‘dogfights’ p Planes brought a new dimension to warfare – AERIAL ATTACKS. Soldiers on the ground had to worry about being bombed from above. Machine guns attempted to neutralize aerial attacks.

Chemical warfare; the use of tear gas and mustard gas, killed and blinded many soldiers during WWI. Soldiers were forced to wear gas masks in the trenches to avoid becoming a casualty. Soldiers and their dogs wearing gas masks In the trenches (above) Children wearing gas masks (side)
