Blitz Hello, welcome to Henry's and Douglas Blitz presentation. This is all about the blitz and everything to do with it. WE have done about Blackouts, Doodlebugs, air raid shelters, Damage, planes and gas masks.

Blackout Blackout was when everything had to be black at night. The cars would be black and the street lamps were turned off. If you were walking around at night you would bang into a lampposts.

Doodlebugs Doodlebugs were called many things like buzz planes or V1. Doodlebugs had no driver and had a very very loud engine. They would travel for a very long time and when the engine stopped it would fall. When it hit anything it would make a huge explosion.

shelters Here are some Anderson shelter underground shelters. There is another shelter that you can use as a table and also a shelter it's called a Morrison shelter.

Damage The Blitz bombed lots of places and made lots of damage. Some bombs would make lot of damage and others would make lots of fires.

planes In World War 2 There were lots of planes and lots of airfields too. German planes had crosses and British planes had noughts that's how they recognised each other.

Gas masks When children were evacuated they were given a gas mask. Gas masks would be worn when the Germans dropped bombs and gas. Fortunately we didn't have to wear them in air raids because the Germans didn't drop gas.
