Unit 4: In the Deep Theme 7: Ocean Life

inhabit- to live in a place Dolphins inhabit the waters of the Gulf Coast.

dolphin- a highly intelligent sea mammal that is related to the whale, although it is much smaller I would love to swim with dolphins one day.

plankton- tiny plants and animals that live in the ocean and serve as food for many sea creatures Plankton is a major part of the food chain.

marine– an animal that lives in the sea There are many animals that can be categorized as marine life.

unique- one of a kind, rare, or uncommon There are unique chairs for sale in furniture stores.

attach- to connect one thing to another This string attaches one to another.

section- a part of something We live in a humid section of South Louisiana.

cartilage- a hard material that forms parts of a skeleton in many animals The cartilage in her bones was wearing thin and causing her pain jpg

chlorophyll- a substance found in plants that enables them to produce energy from sunlight When there is no light, chlorophyll cannot produce energy for other animals.

competition- a struggle among plants and animals for food, water, and living space There is a lot of competition in the survival of the fittest.
