Save The Marine Life Of Taiwan Members : 王文千 Wendy 王鈺華 Helen 陳湘曄 Kate 詹繡翠 Bella

The recent research tells us that the amount of fish decreases a lot. We humans may end up with no fish to eat. Sadly, we do not know the main reason is that we humans destroy the environment and that has caused a lot of trouble. We hope we can get a deeper understanding into this issue and try to find some possible solutions. Motivation

The Purpose 1.Understand the fishing problems Taiwan face. 2.Find out what can replace small fish (fry) in our diet. 3. Find out the main factors that lead to the destruction of fisheries. 4.Find out ways to help maintain a healthy sea life.

Statistics Fry caught by Taiwanese Fishermen The Government demanded that fishermen stop catching fry. 2006

Ocean Fisheries (Fry) Inshore Fishing Coastal Fishing Fisheries Statistics Beginning decreasing

The Cause  In1997, Taiwanese started to use the fishing net and the fishing technique which Japan had already stopped using.  With a large number of fry caught each year, our catch of fish has decreased steadily.  So after1997, the economy of our fishing villages has collapsed and the coastal area of fishing has disappeared.

The Cause  Taiwanese like to eat fry. They say fry has copious calcium and nutrition, especially for those who don’t like fishbone.  Fry is a quantity base of many kinds of fish. It is also an important food for many kinds of fish to live on.  If our ocean lose this basis, the food chain will be disrupted.

Solution  Social campaign against consumption of fry.  Use bigger net to catch fish.  Find other nutriment to substitute fry. (Ex: milk, cheese, bean, kelp, drupe ) Education.

Conclusion We only have one earth. And we all know the importance of protecting the marine life. To save the marine life, we should cherish what the nature gives us! We should do our best to make our earth better.
