Department started June 2013 Objectives: Sustainability Collaborations/partnerships Balancing environmental responsibilities with economic needs Preserving marine resources for subsistence and cultural needs Funded primarily by grant from Resources Legacy Fund Foundation (RLFF) through December 2014 Goal: produce Marine Plan

 Goal: use TEK to create a baseline of ecological features and keystone species observations; ID areas of concerns/threats for long-term monitoring of MPA’s; inform North Coast ocean policy and adaptive management  Tasks ◦ Archival research ◦ Tribal community-based participatory research  Develop data survey tool  Conduct in-person surveys  least 60 oral histories
