Monitoring Activities Answer the Following Questions: What is being done? Scope How well is it being done? Quality Are we doing it on a large enough scale? Scale/coverage Is it working? Are we making a difference? Success

Steps in Monitoring Review existing information related to the intervention. Make a conceptual framework of the communication intervention for monitoring. Identify monitoring goals and objectives. Identify indicators. Determine which categories of workers, supervisors or others who will be responsible for data collection. Develop a timetable for frequency of monitoring. Develop/strengthen a management information system. Track existing service statistics and conduct special studies using surveys, focus groups, observation, and other techniques to measure outputs as well as audience reaction.

Steps in Monitoring Develop monitoring instruments. Conduct monitoring activities. Analyse monitoring data. Write a report. Make recommendations. Implement recommendations. Identify new indicators based on the recommendations. Modify the monitoring system if necessary. Continue to monitor.

In summary Implementation emphasizes maximum participation, flexibility,and training. Monitoring involves tracking outputs to be sure that all activities take place as planned and potential problems are promptly addressed. Check programme outputs to ensure quality and consistency, While maximizing participation. Track existing service statistics and conduct special studies using surveys, focus groups, observation, and other techniques to measure outputs as well as audience reaction.
