Background Information National attention has been drawn to sexual assault and violence on college campuses United States Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights’ published list of universities and colleges The White House’s “1 is 2 Many” campaign

Existing Methods Programming of this nature has existed for decades  What educational methods have been found to be the most effective and impactful  Spreads awareness and information regarding sexual violence

Things to Consider How to best support university and collegiate students who may have experienced or been witness to sexual violence How to make college and university campuses safer in relation to sexual violence How to create a healthier campus climate to facilitate learning ways to deal with sexual violence on college and university campuses

Findings Bystander intervention programs  Have been successful across a myriad of institution types and student populations  State- or region-wide implementation Positive education intended to decrease sexual violence

Future Research Best ways to further expand bystander intervention programs Ways to implement hands-on learning for students Must continue to foster and encourage atmospheres that welcome open dialogue
