80% of a person’s body is made of water Why is it important to drink water? Drink water so that you do not get dehydrated. Dehydration = Your body does not have enough water to keep it working right Talk about the “Foods to Reduce” (“WHOA” foods) using these two statements: “Drink water instead of sugary drinks” “Decrease the sodium (salt) in your food choices” Water is not considered a food. It is necessary for proper bodily functions, but it does not nourish you with vital nutrients like proteins, fats, or carbohydrates that provide calories for the energy our bodies need.
