Unlocking land with consent for residential development Case Study Western Harbour Leith, Edinburgh

Masterplan – 3000 residential homes inc. 15% AHP (1325 delivered) Ref: 01/03229/OUT

Edinburgh has relied upon a small number of landowners for a significant percentage of its developable residential housing land. Forth Ports, National Grid and Waterfront Edinburgh Limited received consent for more than 20,000 homes in Leith & Granton in the early 2000’s. Development has been slow, partly due to site preparation issues & the downturn, yet the area has been slow to feel the effects of economic recovery.
