Introduction What you’re going to be doing is learning about two different types of animals but in a really fun way! What type of animals do you think we will be learning about? You will be given a fun project to help you learn about the animals!

Task You are all zookeepers! You will be getting two new animals at your zoo! The two animals that are coming are a penguin and a koala! What you have to do is research the animals and get information about them so you know how to take care of them. You will be given a worksheet to fill out in the research process. This will also be your study guide for the mini quiz at the end of the project.

Process First we are all zookeepers. Then what we will do is show you all the websites where you can get information from. Next you will receive questions about the animals that you will be doing research on. The questions will be easy to answer and will be about eating and living habits. (i.e. What type of food does a penguin eat? Where do koalas live?)

Process (cont.) The questions you answer will also be a study guide for you to use when studying for the mini quiz. After you answer the questions you will take the mini quiz which will have about 15 questions on it. Including the quiz there will be two fun activities for you to print out and complete outside of class. The two activities will be your choice. There is a rubric we will follow to grade the projects and you will also have a copy.

Process (cont.) The activities you can choose from will vary but they will be activities like drawing, answering more questions and coloring. At the end you can also choose one fact you liked about the animals.

Evaluation At the end of the project you will take a “mini test” that can be answered through information you found on the sites. You will also have to hand in a fill in the blank worksheet and two activities from the websites. This will help you apply the information you learned.

Conclusion Enjoy the project, do well but most importantly have fun!!! Even though you will be learning about new animals I still want you to have fun and remember what your learning.
