CHIEF LEGISLATOR OR LEGISLATIVE LEADER

 Signs and veto’s legislation  Works with Congress  Can write a bill but a Congressman/woman must introduce it.  Can try to influence Legislation by:  State of the Union Address (required to give this speech each year.)  Calling a special session of Congress  Using the media to appeal to the American People

HEAD OR CHIEF OF STATE

 Symbol of the United States  Represents the United States at special occasions and ceremonies  Meets with leaders of other countries  Delivers speeches and represents U.S. at ceremonies.  Awards medals  Lights the national Christmas tree President George W.
