Presentation Outline Background Functional Specifications Summary Industrial Representative Future Goals and Issues

Background Project Chickadee is based on an Enterprise Informational Portal called ClassStudio ClassStudio is designed for a classroom interface, allowing students and teachers to view classroom news, related links, and other information ClassChat is a separate application of ClassStudio

Functional Specifications Core Functionality –ClassChat must be 100% compatible with ClassStudio –ClassChat must run within a webpage –ClassChat must not require a JRE greater than 3.0

Chat Functionality –Text Editor: Allows user to type messages into a textbox User can modify text style, color, size, and font –Chat Area: Displays all current users’ text Notification for a users entrance and exit –User List: Displays a list of all current chat room users and their ClassStudio role Instant messenger and whiteboard can be launched from the user list

Security Specifications –All users must initially login to ClassStudio to enter chat room –No additional logins are required

User Interface Specifications –Chat Room Chat area will include a scroll bar and occupy the majority of the screen Text editor will include a textbox, a button to send messages, and buttons for font and text style User list with include buttons to utilize instant messenger and the whiteboard as well as ignore users –Whiteboard Includes a blank drawing area which occupies the majority of the screen Includes a toolbar with buttons to hold and release the whiteboard as well as other text and graphical options

Whiteboard Specifications –The whiteboard must appear in a separate window from the chat room –User must hold the whiteboard to draw –User must release the whiteboard when done –User will have various graphical options to draw on the whiteboard –User can clear as whiteboard, as well as redo or undo an action

Industrial Representative Our industrial representative is Zachary Gorman Zachary Gorman both owns a software company, Archetype Auction Software, and works for a Beaverton based hardware company, Network Elements

Future Plans/Issues The next step for Project Chickadee is to have our industrial representative approve our functional specifications In the future we must also learn the Jabber protocol At this point in time we are not experiencing any issues
