 Mogul Dynasty was in decline  Began with trading company called: British East India Company  Given power by British government to be active in India’s political and military affairs

 Distrust for the British began to grow by the 1850’s  1857 Revolt occurred › To Britain= Great Rebellion or Sepoy Mutiny › To India= First War of Independence
