CONFORMING OUR LIVES TO HIS COLOSSIANS 3.4 “Christ, Our Life”

“IF then you were raised with Christ…” – Col. 3.1  Our being raised with Christ is conditional.  We die with Christ and rise with Him in baptism – 2.11ff How does Christ dwell in me?  Colossians 2.12 – “through faith”  Ephesians 3.17 – “through faith” Christ dwelling in me produces changes:  It changes my conduct – Colossians 3.1 “seek”  It changes my thinking – Colossians 3.2 “set your mind”

When Christ Lives in Me… I kill off the bad practices in my life – Colossians 3.5  Note the sexual connotations in v5.  Fornication – engaging in illicit sexual activity (Heb. 13.4).  Uncleanness – the defilement of worldliness (1 Thess. 4.7).  Passion – inappropriate affection (Romans 1.26).  Evil Desire – lust after that which is forbidden (Mt. 5.28).  Covetousness – idolatry; undeserved esteem (Eph. 4.19)  Are these present in my life?  Abide by God’s restrictions on sexual activity? Heb  Is Christ reflected in my attitude? Dress? Facebook?  Is God really my greatest desire?

When Christ Lives in Me… I have the hope of an eternity in Heaven with Him.  Colossians 3.4 Do you have that hope?
