Tree Planting Projects for 2010 LGA Snapshot: –1,197 street trees and shrubs planted in 2009/10 –DA Consents granted from January 2010 to October 2010 –Tree pruning on private property= 158 –Tree removal on private property= 318 –Number of street trees removed from January 2010 to October 2010 = 63 –Planet Ark National Tree Day held on the 1 st August 2010 – 1,000 native indigenous plants were planted –Free Tree Giveaway Day held on 9 th May 2010 – over 2,500 native indigenous plants were given away

Tree Planting Projects for 2010 (continued) Areas listed for future planting – –Mortdale Heights/Ballantyne Rd buffering golf course – commencing late Nov 2010 –Caloola Cres Road Islands Beverly Hills – commencing March 2011 –Other future sites for planting such as Kempt Field, Hurstville and Lower Gannons Park –Consideration is also being given to areas mentioned at the previous meeting such as Jewfish point and Marine Drive, however watering may be an issue in these locations.

Update on Environmental Sustainability – Ian Curtis Draft project brief will be finalised this year for the Biodiversity Study Council staff have been focussed on identifying and assessing opportunities to improve riparian vegetation and water quality outcomes. Biodiversity Study remains an important priority for Council.
