NMMU Occupational Health Center
Following the recent student protest action the university has taken the decision to provide the same onsite Occupational Health Care Services to all contract staff members as is currently available to NMMU employees.
The service include:
Occupational health service as is prescribed by the OHS act.
These will be by scheduled appointments made by the relevant staff. Sr Valencia ext 3662 and Mr Kobus ext 2045)
Minor primary health care services as mentioned later in the presentation will be provided as follows
Emergency medical care including transportation (ambulance service) as and when needed. The ambulance service can be ext 4312
North Campus Clinic Monday –Thursday 08:00 – 09:00 No appointments are needed.
The above services will be available by Special arrangements at MV and 2 nd ave as follows:
Missionvale: 1 st and 3 rd Friday of each month 08:00 – 09:00
2 nd ave : 2 nd and 4 th Friday of each month 08:00 – 09:00
Management of minor ailments and the provision of a stat dose of medication as and when needed at the cost of R15.00 per visit
Free Service: Family planning STI treatment Tuberculosis screening HIV Screening and testing Blood pressure monitoring
Monitoring and healthcare advice of treatment of chronic conditions: (Blood pressure, Blood sugar, TB, HIV, Epilepsy etc.)
No treatment for any chronic conditions are provided for and staff will still have to access the public services for this.
