What is his most preferred style of writing? Faulkner enjoyed doing short stories for most of his writings. He also liked to do plays and several different novels. Most of his writing in which were fictional.

What were some tragedies in his life? William tried to join the air force, but was turned down because he was too short. His novel “Flags in the Dust” was turned down by every publisher he went to also. He had a 13 year affair with a young writer, Joan Williams.

What may have inspired him into writing? He was influenced by his families history and were they lived. He was later influenced by Sherwood Anderson into trying fiction.

When did he first start writing for profession and why? His first published novel was done in He did it for a hobby which later turned into the rest of his life. Also by being inspired by his earlier life.
