Presentation transcript:

 Have you ever had a great idea for a project for school and either 1.Like Mr. Lovett, suck at anything Artistic (drawing, colouring, painting, etc.) or 2.Couldn’t find a computer software to make a picture look realistic  Microsoft Paint is awful!  Images often have those white boxes around them

 Aimed to help amateur photographers and digital designers help bring their ideas to reality  Two major areas as you enter the program 1.Organizer ◦ This helps you organize photos and images into slideshows, albums, etc. 2.Editor ◦ This is what we will focus on over the next two periods.

 Editing Photos ◦ You can edit photos that you take via your digital camera and complete a variety of tasks  Get rid of red eye  Crop out people, objects, etc.  For example – if you see “That Guy” in one of your photos  Adjust brightness, contrast or chose from one of their unique layouts ◦ The power of Photoshop is being able to digitally bring your ideas to life  This is what we will focus on

 To create an image – you must follow a couple important steps 1.Chose your background first 2.If you like an image (say from Google Images), ensure you save the image to your documents before inserting it into the program (no CTRL+C)

 To select the image there are a few different tools ◦ Quick Selection Tool ◦ Magic Wand ◦ Lasso ◦ Box  Once you have the image ◦ You want to take to your background  CTRL + X ◦ You want to eliminate  Del

 Layers ◦ Just like the other programs we have seen throughout the year, we must ensure that images are placed in the correct order

 Text ◦ You are able to place text on an image (again make sure this is the top layer) ◦ Styles are limited in the program, so you may want to try writing in a program that has Word Art ◦ Ensure your text is large and readable!!

 Come up with a creative/artistic idea for manipulating a photo?? (i.e. could be a collage, a magazine ad)  When would you have wanted to use this program in the past?  What may you want to do with it in the future?  You will be creating something in Photoshop from scratch, later in the unit

 What I want to create today is an animal war!!!!! ◦ Before you call me Michael Vick…. ◦ We will do this on Photoshop  Where will they fight?  What animals?  Special Powers?  Are the animals wearing any clothing to their fight?
