Scanning Electron Microscopy - TiN and MoS 2 ' Nanocrystalline Grains (average grain size less than 100 nm) of TiN is observed ' EDS analysis have shown good stoichiometric ratio of Ti and N (Atomic Percent N : Ti = : 47.09) TiNMoS 2

X-ray Diffraction – MoS 2 and TiN ' TiN and MoS 2 broad peaks indicate nanocrystalline nature of sample (006) (111) (200) (311)

Experimental Results Current results obtained Substrate roughness is an important criteria for COF Tribological Coating Coating Pair SubstrateCOFHardne ss TiNSteelAluminum GPa TiN / MoS 2 Si Wafer TiN / MoS 2 TiNGlass TiN / MoS 2 TiNAluminum

Conclusion ' Additional depositions to improve tribological properties of bilayer coatings of TiN/MoS 2 on glass substrates have been carried out. ' Tribological measurements of friction, wear and microhardness to be carried out at University of Florida (UF). However we are waiting for budget to be approved to purchase diamond tips to be used for characterization of the coatings at UF. ' Awaiting budget approval for purchase of Microwave leakage detector for the microwave assisted chemical vapor deposition (MWCVD) system used for deposition of diamond-like-carbon (DLC) coatings.
