Topic Objectives Understand common errors based on the mock exam scripts marked

Overview 25 people had mock exams to do – 11 people bothered to hand them it – DISGUSTING All papers were marked out of 50 (questions 1-7) although some people didn’t do question 7 Marks varied from 6 to 32 Mean mark of 21 which shows how little effort was put in by some Approx Grade Boundaries: ABCDE

Question #1 This question is about job functions (departments) within an organisation, In this case the answer was either HR or Accounts as Administration had already been identified, Need to find the function in the case study and copy what tasks they do exactly – don’t be generic, Watch the number of marks for the number of points you need to make, To practise these questions see topic and exercise 3,

Question #2 This question is about the role of somebody and what they do, Need to find the job role in the case study and copy what tasks they do exactly – don’t be generic, Watch the number of marks for the number of points you need to make, To practise these questions see topic and exercise 4,

Question #3 This question varies from paper to paper but is normally about a relationship, Could be how a department fits into the overall structure Use the structure diagram and say what you see Could be relationship with a customer Could be relationship with supplier Could be relationship with other stakeholders e.g. tax office, shareholder Find the correct place in the case study and copy Watch the number of marks for the number of points you need to make, To practise these questions see past papers on the VLE section of my website,

Question #5 This question normally looks at the ICT equipment used within a department generally Find the correct place in the case study and copy Ensure you indentify The exact hardware being used in the order in case study The software being used and how its used Data which is input into the system during tasks Outputs which come from the system and it what form Processing which occurs during tasks performed on the system Watch the number of marks for the number of points you need to make, To practise these questions see topic and exercise 7

Question #6 This question is the grade A question and what you to comment on a specific ICT use within the case study and suggest improvements, You need to have an awareness of new technologies and devices which can improve efficiency and productivity, To practice these questions see topic and exercise 8, topic 11 and past papers on the VLE section on my site, Candidates throughout the country do poorly on this question,

Question #7 This is a law question related to the case study, It doesn’t appear every year and this time could be one of these as both task 3’s in 2010 are law related, If it does turn up remember to quote the correct law (including year) and apply the principals Use past papers to practise this question
