Super Learning SMSC Day SMSC looks at the Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural development of each child. At ARK Tindal we had two fun-filled days of learning where we approached a variety of topics. Based around the 100 year anniversary of the start of World war One we looked at the effect war has on housing, responsibilities in times of war, the soldiers from Balsall Heath who fought in World War One and the effect propaganda has during a war among many other topics. Both children and staff enjoyed the days and learned a lot about the history of Great Britain, about local history and the lessons that have or haven’t been learned from war.

In Year One we created, Royal Warwickshire emblems to create our own medals. We cultured in Poppy wreaths to remember the fallen soldiers from Balsall Heath and then used potatoes to make our own special Poppy prints.

In Year Two we looked at different types of propaganda and then created our own.

In Year Three circle time we talked about people we trust and why. There are lots of people we can trust at ARK Tindal. We thought about what life would be like without trust.

In Year Three we used an atlas so that we could plot the countries that were involved in WW1 on a map.

Year Four went out into the battlefields to rescue injured soldiers, the job of stretcher bearer was very important!

In Year 5 we thought carefully about our responsibilities at home, at school and in the community that we live in.
