Grant Application Process Community Philanthropic Committee of the Rotary Club of West Chester

What Is A Grant? Community Philanthropic Grants provide limited financial support for worthy, non- profit organizations in the Greater West Chester Community. Grants range from $500 to $5,000. Grants are for one year only. –They are not automatically renewed.

How Are Grants Awarded? Any member in good standing of the Rotary Club of West Chester can submit an application. –Non-profit organizations can also apply directly. Applications are reviewed by the Community Philanthropic Committee for –consistency with the mission of Rotary International, –priorities of the Rotary Club of West Chester as expressed in the recent survey, and –the approved budget. –Preference is given to projects which have a big impact on the community. Recommendations are then sent to the board for final approval.

Who Is Eligible? IRS recognized non-profit organization Provides humanitarian services in the Greater West Chester Community Recipients are expected to –Treat funds as a sacred trust –Maintain clear and accurate accounting –Return funds not spent within one year with an explanation

Timetable Applications can be submitted throughout the year. The Committee will review the applications twice a year in November and May –This is to prevent a first come - first served race. –Club members will be provided an opportunity to comment on applicants as part of the review. The Board will act on the Committee recommendations in December and June. –Funds will be distributed in December and June.

What’s Different? Application form to ensure all required information is present in an understandable way –The form is based on that of the RI Foundation Humanitarian Grants program –The process ensures that all applications are reviewed on a fair and even basis Proof of organization’s non-profit status and a financial statement required Report of project results required Twice a year application processing Big impact priority –Some large grants of $5000 or more in addition to small grants
