Bavarian traditional costumes Women wear Dirndl and Men wear Lederhosen The traditional costumes where originally worn by the farmers and peasants in the 19 th century. Dirndls are dresses that have a blouse and an apron. Lederhosen are leathered pants and the men wear them with a German traditional blouse, suspenders and knee high socks. The women have a special way of tying their aprons: 1. left- single 2. right- married

Black forest traditional costumes They show more color and they reveal more then the older costumes. Add gold coins or chains to show wealth. The women wear full skirts and puffy blouses. They wear a hat with many little balls on it which is called, Bollenhüte. Women also wear stocking or tights under the costume.

Other National costumes The Frisian Tracht is from the North Sea isle of Föhr. It has a necklace with shells on it to show resemblance to the North Sea. The South Tyrol Tracht has bigger roundish hats for women. The men wear long pants and a thicker belt. The men also wear hats with a feather in the back sticking up.
