Kpods

 We are the Kpods.  We are: Guy, Cameron, Ryan, Jibran, Selina, Jay, Emma, Robin, Louise and Amy.  Today we are going to be explaining what we do in Kpod. Meet the Kpods Kpod

 Work together to produce and present podcasts that interest, entertain and inform children, parents and the wider community.  Aim to become familiar and competent with a variety of broadcasting equipment and use it with confidence.  Work together with all the other Kirkhill Pupil Groups to gather information in about what is happening in Kirkhill in line with our School Plan. As Kpods, we :

 We are responsible for creating podcasts  Working together with other pupil groups to audit the schools performance as a Rights Respecting School  Arranging special days and events – such as the Saint Andrew’s Day celebrations  Fundraising  Arranging special guests and guest speakers

 A podcast is like a recorded radio show which you can upload onto the internet for the public to listen to anytime.  It is not ‘live’. This means that you can edit it, add music and sound effects.  And if you make mistakes, you can take them out by editing! What is a Podcast?

 Kpod is responsible for researching, recording and editing Kirkhill’s school and community news.  We create, capture and manipulate sounds to communicate our ideas, information and experiences in engaging ways. What is a Podcast?

Audacity and how we use it  We use a programme called Audacity for recording and podcasting. If we make a mistake, we can cut and edit the section out.  We can see the sound waves and how loudly or quietly, we are speaking. 

Audacity

 We spend lots of time writing scripts. We need to think about this a lot before we make a recording.  We write scripts for special events or for podcasts which we post on the school website, so if you want to hear them go onto the school website and go on our page. Writing scripts

 At the moment, we use a headset with a built in microphone to make our recordings. It means that we have to use a desktop computer. Podcasting

 d/ d/ You can find our podcasts here:

 Last year we ran a poetry competition.  We recorded 2 podcasts featuring the winners poems which you have just heard.  We have also recorded podcasts about Rights Respecting School, Poppy Day and Robert Burns. Poetry competition

 This is a podcast which KPod recorded last year which tells pupils all about peer mediation. Peer Mediation

 This is a podcast that Kpod recorded in We recorded it after the Remembrance Commemorations.

St. Andrews  In November 2014, we arranged the Saint Andrew’s Day celebrations in the school.  We put together a powerpoint with links to animations and stories about Saint Andrew.  We researched a number of tasks which were carried out in class.  We wore tartan to celebrate the day!

 Here are some of the ways in which the school celebrated Saint Andrew’s Day! Saint Andrew’s Day

What I learned from being in KPod

 Thank you for listening to us today.
