SShrishti Learning Center (SLC): 6-monthly update Shifted to a rented premises in Kishangarh, both centers are within walking distance easier to manage both centers, more space, terrace is being utilized, 6 rooms, no need for transportation added lights/fans using money from local donors rent 17,000/month; budget presented last time had transportation instead (15,000/month) Got ~80 new admissions but many were not fit for SLC so moved to Ladli first; in next 6 months they plan to move kids to SLC depending upon their progress Ladli center has ~150kids; earlier had nursery to KG but because of lack of space moved UKG to SLC SLC now houses UKG, I-V (earlier I-IV only) in addition, has a door step school (started oct 09); reaching out to about 40 kids

New Building for SLC

Megha (TA runner) visited the new building in Sep 09 –attendance was particularly low that day (35-40 kids and 3 teaches) because of Dusshera season SLC’s Current strength = 86, Girls: 31,Boys: teachers (4 supported by Asha, 2 by other means) Computer teacher – was a big question last time. Till Sep 09, a volunteer was taking computer classes. recently a computer teacher was hired (some unused funds) community outreach has been good because of social worker (was added this year) Daily a period of extracurricular activities (after lunch, 45 mins)- drawing, music & dance, GK and spoken English are taken during this period (Megha participated during her visit) one day teacher’s workshop conducted by a trainer from Pratham Class V - 8 students who would be appearing for NIOS examination in March 2010; doing it for the first time 12 students joined Govt school after class IV –suggested them to keep record of all SShrishti passouts

A group of volunteers from US ran Delhi ½ marathon recently to raise funds for SShrishti; hoping to raise >1 ½ lacs planning annual day in Dec end, trying to get donors. already arranged for space for free have asked them to give us an estimate on how much they could raise or already raised through their local channels for SLC so that we could cut down a bit of funding
