1 Identifying Patterns of Change The student is expected to identify patterns of change such as in weather, metamorphosis, and objects in the sky.

2 Vocabulary Change- To make or become different. Cycle- A course or series of events that recur regularly and usually lead back to the starting point. Metamorphosis- A change of physical or structure (transformation). Revolve- To travel in a closed path around an object such as Earth does as it moves around the Sun. Rotate- The spinning of an object on its axis. Phases of the moon- The illuminated changes of the moon as viewed from Earth due to its motion around the Earth.

3 Vocabulary Axis- An imaginary line that passes through Earth’s center and its North and South poles. Season- A period of the year characterized by or associated with a particular type of weather phenomenon due to the tilt of the Earth’s axis. Weather- The state of the atmosphere with respect to heat or cold, wetness or dryness, calm or storm, clearness or cloudiness. Fronts- Fronts occur where two large air masses collide at the Earth’s surface. Cold front- This occurs when a cold air mass pushes under a warm air mass. Warm front- This occurs when a warm air mass slides on top of a cold air mass.
