Introduction  The book “Matched” takes place in a society where everything is decided by a group of counsel members called: The Counsel. Everything ranging from where you live what your job is and who you end up marrying is decided by them. Cassia is forced to marry her childhood friend Xander which is very rare.

Identification  Cassia. The main Protagonist in the book. She is lucky enough to be paired with a childhood friend Xander. She is a tall, charming, beautiful young girl.  The counsel is the main antagonist although there is no specified antagonist within the book. They are a group of people who make decisions on everyone.

Central Conflict  In the beginning of the book, the main character, Cassia, goes to her first matching ceremony. The ceremony is run by the group of old people known as “The Society”. The Society makes all the decisions in ones life. Cassia is lucky enough to get matched with her best friend Xander and is giving a memory card. When she plugs the memory card in she sees someone else's face, a boy named Ky. She now has to choose whether or not she truly loves Ky or Xander.

Minor Characters Eli a replacement that escapes with Ky. His parents died and because he was not a citizen he was never adopted. Xander. Close friend of Cassia and is her first Match. Ky. Close friend of Cassia whose face pops up accidentally when she put in the chip.

The Critics   This review is basically talking about how the book was able to make good use of a love triangle and how the characters are deep and intriguing.  review/ review/ review/  This review talked about how the book was a bit vague on explaining the setting. Also how the book was clean and is recommended to other people of different ages.

My take  My take on the novel was that it was very good and it sort of did an “OK” job on explaining. Probably due to it being the first in a trilogy but I was left turning back on pages and wondering about the exact setting. The book was also a bit slow at times but there were also many moments where it was very interesting. The story of Cassia will want you coming back for more!
