Computer can’t find Smart Board. If your computer gives you a prompt when you open the Smart Board program, stating that the Smart Board can’t be found, there are a few quick things you can check to try and rectify this problem. Make sure that the eraser is set properly in it’s tray.

People tend to remove the eraser if it is their way and forget to return it when finished. Second, make sure the Communication Connection Cable is connected in the Smart Board and the in back of the computer. A green light should be lit when it is connected properly.

Orientating your Smart Board. If your Smart Board is not oriented correctly the placement of your tool on the Smart Board will not align with the visual objects on the Smart Board. This is simple to fix, all you have to do is orient your Smart Board.

First you have to bring up the Control Panel by clicking on the Tools button.

When the Control Panel opens, click on the Orientation/Align button.

Click on the red cross within the white diamond. The next diamond will become highlighted. Repeat until the screen closes.

Line breaks and Skips. Often users experience line breaks. Line breaks occur while using the interactive pens to draw lines and the line skips throughout. A common cause of this is an obstruction such as dust or dirt on the sensor in the pen tray. Simply clean off the sensor so that the light remains on the entire time the pen is removed from the tray.

Stuck in Floating Tools Mode. Floating Tools allow you to use the Pen and Eraser tools through a small floating tool box on your desktop. This floating tool box will remain while the rest of Smart Board is minimized and you use other applications. If for any reason you are stuck in a pen mode while using floating tools, for instance the floating tools bar could have been minimized, you can simply exit the pen mode and floating tools by hitting the Escape (ESC) key located on the top left of the key board.

Saving your notes as a PDF, HTML or Power Point file. Within the smart board program you can only save your notes and work that you have created as Smart Board files. If you wish to have your work in a PDF, HTML or Power Point File (ppt), you can use the Export function to save in one of these file formats.
