Brainstorming for Future WWG Activities 1.High data rate wireless Blue Book (Start 2012) –PHY and MAC, star topology; we offer a set of recommendations for several applications –UWB WiMedia, UWB IEEE a, IEEE802.11abgn … –Differentiate power level and data rates (etc) in the recommendations? –Applications –Medical DAQ, Structural Monitoring, HS Sensors –HD video, Instrument data transfer 2.Testing procedures and specifications for ground and onboard Wireless Systems Magenta Book (Start 2013?) –Environmental and benchmark testing –Compliance and interoperability testing (e.g. for MBs) –Wireless Application Design procedures (help to introduce wireless in avionics), e.g. EMC, Frequency mngt, RF Propagation, 3.Evolution of the LDR MB? –Multi-hop / routing recommendation? How and what to propose? Should we wait for SSIART results? –LDR UWB recommendation? 4.RFID encoding (concept paper? No support from ESA, NASA? Should it be postpone for 1-2 years?) –Interaction with SAVOIR

Brainstorming for Future WWG Activities High data rate wireless Blue Book –The CCSDS Low Data-Rate Magenta Book satisfies a part of the demand from the community, yet this community also requires high data-rate in a number of operational use-cases. This document will present the recommended practices for the utilization of high data-rate wireless communication technologies in support of spacecraft ground and flight monitoring and control applications. The recommended practices contained in this report will enable member agencies to select the best option(s) available for interoperable wireless communications in the support of spacecraft applications such as health monitoring, video transmission and instrument telemetry. The specification of a recommended practice facilitates interoperable communications and forms the foundation for cross-support of communication systems between separate member space agencies. The data rates covered are typically between 1Mbps and 500Mbps.

Brainstorming for Future WWG Activities Testing procedures and specifications for ground and onboard Wireless Systems Book (magenta or green) –Based on the challenges raised by evaluating and comparing the numerous different wireless technologies, the Wireless working group identified that a level of guidance in the adoption, integration and testing of wireless solutions in space systems is required. The WWG proposes to monitor, and build upon, existing coexistence mechanisms, and to provide a summary and guidance of important engineering considerations in the deployment of multiple, potentially interfering, wireless data communication systems.

Brainstorming for Future WWG Activities –To be kept for later –[KG] As with many other standards developed through the CCSDS consensus process, the key to correct adoption and implementation by different manufacturers and constituents is a strong conformity assessment program. A conformity assessment program will validate the LDR and HDR standardized wireless systems through a set of agreed-upon tests which will validate that the systems can interoperate among themselves, thus ensuring member agency interoperability and cross-support. –[] Define standardized test for relevant environments –Coexistence, interoperability, –Could also be applicable to other groups (e.g. SLS) –Get guidance from CCSDS gurus –Environmental and benchmark testing –Compliance and interoperability testing (e.g. for MBs) –Wireless Application Design procedures (help to introduce wireless in avionics), e.g. EMC, Frequency mngt, RF Propagation,
