LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May model for technical support to LEFIS Virtual Campus: a proposal Selahattin Kuru Isik University

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May the context and the goal  one aspect of the LEFIS Virtual Campus Project is technical support  this is the responsibility of ISIK UNIVERSITY in the project  we want to understand and define what we mean by technical support in this context  a first step on this line is to develop a model for provision of the tecnical support  the model is an outline definition of the technical support to be provided (i.e. the scope and the goal, the determinants (requirements and inputs etc.), the approach, the roles and the actors, and the main services, etc.)

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May the methodology (for developing the model)  identify functional requirements (input from project definition document)  identify non-functional requirements (input from project definition document and from state-of-the art)  input from state-of-the art  input from project partners on their resources and their state-of-the art  develop draft model  discuss proposal within project consortium  finalize model

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May input: functional requirements  technical support for publishing e-newsletter (wp on management)  technical support for publishing project deliverables on project web site (wp on dissemination)  technical support for preparation of educational products (wp on educational products)  technical support for educational activities (wp on educational activities)  technical support for e-learning tools (wp on research)  technical support for integrating e-learning tools with LEFIS web site  etc.

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May input: non-functional requirements  flexible, extensible, scalable  robust, dependable  effective, efficient  built on existing tools, infrastructure, content, expertise, experience

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May input: state-of-the art  web2.0 and social software  open source  open content  new ways of learning (collaborative learning, social learning, problem- based learning, etc.)  networked enterprise

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May input: project partners on their resources and their state-of-the art  Albarracin workshop is the first encounter

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May the approach: federated solution  everybody uses her own tools, infrastructure, content  sharing of tools, content, infrastructure  certain services are made available centrally  technical support is provided at local level as well

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May roles / actors  IRDC (Informatics Research and Development Center) at Isik University provides centralised technical support  a local technical support team / unit at each site provides local technical support  each partner performs activities and produces outcomes as defined in project definition with support from central and / or local technical support unit, as needed

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May central support services  Virtual Campus web site and / or portal  e-newsletter  medium for internal communication  web2.0 / social software promotion  tools help desk  LMS/CMS hosting -if needed

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May internal communication: project space and facilitators space  one for the project; one for the facilitators  implement using a blogging tool or a shared workspace  post announcements, guidelines, discussion points (with attachments), etc  automatic notification of postings by

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May web2.0 / social software promotion  tools to promote  blogging: e.g. wordpress  bookmarking: e.g. del.icio.us  teleconferencing: e.g. flashmeeting  shared workspace: e.g. google docs  multimedia sharing: e.g. flickr  awareness raising  help desk

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May other central services  tools help desk  LMS/CMS hosting -if needed

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May local technical support  local web site  local internal communication  tools help desk  LMS/CMS support

LEFIS Virtual Campus Design Albarracin Meeting, May what next  consolidate the model, considering local needs and local resources: does the model meet the needs for technical support? can each partner allocate the necessary resources for local technical support  input from partners on specific aspects
