Track Color Coding Horizontal color bars on channel strips in the mix window Vertical color bars to the left of each track in the edit window Helpful in sessions with large track counts Visual organizing and identifying material in a session. Assign colors to: tracks, regions in tracks, regions in the Region List, groups, and markers.

Region Looping Audio regions, MIDI regions, and region groups Repeats a single region on a track or regions across multiple tracks for composing and arranging. Set specific number of loops to include, set a specific amount of time or bar beat length to fill with the loop.

Region Loops Applied only to an entire source region or region group. Cannot be applied to multiple regions on the same track. Looping a region group allows you to include empty space. Applied to multitrack region groups and mixed region groups. Looping on multiple tracks, region looping will be applied to the source region on each track. Looped regions can be combined with other regions into groups, and looped again.

Grid Mode Absolute Moving any region or MIDI note snaps the region start to the grid boundaries. If a region’s start point falls between Grid boundaries, dragging the region or MIDI note will snap its start time to the nearest grid boundary. Relative Regions and MIDI note can be moved by Grid units. If a region’s start point falls between grid beats and the grid is set to 1/4 notes, dragging the region will be constrained to 1/4 notes, preserving the region’s relative position to the nearest beat. Relative Regions and MIDI note can be moved by Grid units. If a region’s start point falls between grid beats and the grid is set to 1/4 notes, dragging the region will be constrained to 1/4 notes, preserving the region’s relative position to the nearest beat.

Separate Regions You can separate regions with the timing on the grid to create regions of a defined size. The regions are separated based on the grid values and boundaries. You can add a handle to the start of a region your separating.

Beat Detective Analyzes an audio or MIDI selection, identifies its peak transients or accented notes, and generates beat triggers based on the detected peak transients or MIDI notes. Requires a large amount of RAM 3 main sections – Operation Mode – Selection section – Detection/Action section

Beat Detective 5 operation modes – Bar Beat Marker Generation – Groove Template Extraction – Region Separation (Audio Only) – Region Conform (Audio Only) – Edit Smoothing (Audio Only)

Beat Detective Extract a tempo map from freely recorded audio Create DigiGroves Conform audio to an existing tempo map Clean up rhythm tracks Perform loop matching Create remixes Smooth edits

Beat Detective Workflow 1. Define the selection 2. Detect transients (beat triggers) 3. Edit beat triggers 4. Separate regions 5. Conform regions (audio only) 6. Smooth edits (audio only)
