What color is your day? The Rainbow Behavior System at Lomas

Lomas is implementing the rainbow behavior chart system. There are seven different colors a student can move their clothespin to throughout the day, either up or down. This way, students have an opportunity to turn any negative behavior around and vice versa. All students start on green or Ready to Learn at the beginning of each day.

 District test used based out of Oregon  One indicator used to determine if a child is going to struggle with reading.  Done 3 times a year.  Letter Id 55 Per Minute  First sound fluency 30 Per Minute  Phoneme Segmentation 40 Per Minute  Nonsense Words 28 Per Minute

Counting and Cardinality  Know number names and the count sequence.  Count to tell the number of objects.  Compare numbers. Operations and Algebraic Thinking  Understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from. Measurement and Data  Describe and compare measurable attributes.  Classify objects and count the number of objects in each category. Science, Social Studies and Health are integrated with Language Arts, Math, and Reading.

Integrate technology in everyday teaching in all subject areas. Each classroom contains 5 laptops, a mounted projector, a document camera, and a SMARTBoard. Dream box -Math  Goal – For your child’s learning to be enhanced by technology in order to prepare them effectively for our technologically advanced world.  Each child must memorize their 6 digit student number and password in order to log onto the computer. (This is also their library checkout number).

 A report card will go home in January and May.  We will conference with parents after the first and third quarters.
