An index based on a series of socio-economic indicators. –Educational levels & Illiteracy –Access to plumbing & sewerage –Drinkable water –Electricity –Overcrowded housing conditions –Unemployment & low pay –% population living in housing with dirt floors –Population living in communities of less than 5,000 in habitants
