Rules:  A demonstrative adjective comes before a noun that it describes.  Demonstrative adjectives tell which one or which ones.  ThisThatTheseThose

This and These  This and These are demonstrative adjectives that point to nearby people or things.  This glass next to me is empty.  These lenses magnify objects.

That and Those  That and Those are demonstrative adjectives that point out people and things far away.  Pick up that box over there.  We can use those mirrors by the window.

Use This and That with singular nouns.  This picture is crystal clear.  That mirror is broken.

Use These and Those with objects that are plural.  These pictures are perfect for my album.  Those mirrors will go perfectly in my hallway.
