Expert 21 vocabulary “Finding Their Futures”

advantage (noun) Meaning: a benefit; something that helps you get ahead Example: The free tutoring sessions I got gave me an advantage on the math test.

internship (noun) Meaning: a job a student works at in order to gain work skills and experience Example: During my internship at the local newspaper office, I learned how to write catchy headlines.

semester (noun) Meaning: half of the school year, usually about four months long Example: Our class gets assigned one huge group project every semester.

coordination (noun) Meaning: the act of working together smoothly Example: The more you practice using your hockey stick, the better your coordination will be during a game.

income (noun) Meaning: the amount of money a person earns Example: I can earn a good income with a job as a computer programmer.

grueling (adjective) Meaning: tiring and difficult Example: The last part of the hike was grueling because we had to climb up a slippery, muddy mountain.

prefer (verb) Meaning: to like better than something else Example: I prefer bringing a lunch from home to buying a lunch in the cafeteria.
