The Role of State & Private Forestry  Forest health protection  Urban & community forestry  Stewardship & landowner assistance  Forest products utilization & marketing Provide technical and financial assistance through a variety of programs such as:

Forest health protection n Entomologists/pathologists/foresters n Surveys and status reports for forest pests (aerial surveys, and trapping programs) n Site evaluations/management recommendations n Insect & disease training n Publications/newsletters n Grants/cooperative funding

Forest health protection n Responsible for providing insect and disease assistance on Federal lands (National Forest, National Park, Corp of Engineers, Tribal lands) n Responsible for providing states with insect and disease management assistance – this is done by providing states with funding, training and technical assistance
