Enlightenment Ideas Spread Enlightenment ideas spread all over Europe at a very fast pace. Many Europeans began questioning the idea of Divine right rule A Strict Class System was enforced A belief in heavenly reward for earthly suffering

Key Question: What roles did censorship and salons play in the spread of new ideas? Government Officials and church authorities felt order was being challenged and they restricted ideas and information. From your reading who and what did they ban? Salons were places of discussions where small groups gathered to exchange Enlightenment ideas. Many of these philosophers gained fame by providing these forums.
