AUSTRALIA – INDIA JOINT SYMPOSIUM ON N ANOPOROUS M ATERIALS F OR C LEAN E NERGY A PPLICATIONS (Sponsored by the Australian Government through the Australia – India Council of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) Jointly Organised by CSIR - INDIAN INSTITUTE OF PETROLEUM CSIRO MANUFACTURING (Victoria, Australia) 8 th March 2016 CSIR-IIP, India

CONFIRMED SPEAKERS Prof. Sourav Pal IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India Dr. R. V. Jasra Reliance Industries Ltd., Vadodara, India Dr. N. V. Choudhury HPCL Corporate R&D, Bengaluru, India Prof. V. G. Gaikar ICT, Mumbai Prof. Sasidhar Gumma IIT, Guwahati Prof. Matthew Hill CSIRO Manufacturing, Australia Prof. Christian Doonan The University of Adelaide, Australia Dr. James Mcgregor CSIRO Energy, Australia Dr. Ravichandar Babarao CSIRO Manufacturing, Australia THEME Nano-porous materials are at the heart of many industrial processes related to catalysis, separation, purification and energy storage. Intervention of high performing functional porous materials in clean energy applications will become more and more important in coming years for bringing sustainability and low carbon footprint in our developmental agenda. This also gains significance in view of the recent pledge undertaken by the global community at COP21 summit at Paris to limit the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2 ° C above preindustrial levels. Efficient production and use of energy will be crucial in meeting this goal. CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), India and CSIRO Manufacturing, Australia both are committed in the development of energy efficient technologies related to clean fuel production, energy storage, climate change mitigation etc. This symposium aims to develop a platform for detailed discussions among practicing scientists and engineers from academia and industry of both the countries to share scientific ideas and breakthrough in the field of nanoporous materials for clean energy applications. The theme of the symposium aligns well with one of the priority areas proposed in the Australia-India Council Strategic Plan FOCUS The seminar will be in the form of invited lectures from eminent scientists and engineers from the areas of : Advanced Material Synthesis for Gas Storage and Separation Thermodynamics and Molecular Modelling of Porous Materials Composite Materials in Clean Energy Application Membrane Synthesis and Application Large Scale Production of Hybrid Porous Materials VENUE: Lovraj Kumar Auditorium CSIR-IIP, Dehradun DATE: 8 March 2016 PARTICIPATION: By invitation only CONTACT DETAILS:  Dr M. About CSIR-IIP CSIR-Indian Institute Petroleum (IIP) established in 1960, is one of the constituent National Laboratories of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The Institute carries out R&D work in the areas of petroleum refining, separation processes, catalysis, chemicals and petrochemicals, application of petroleum products in internal combustion engines, industrial and domestic combustion, biotechnology and analytical sciences. In its more than five decades of existence, it has developed more than 80 technologies, a large number of them commercialized. The Institute and its scientists have received many prestigious awards in recognition of excellence in various fields. CSIR-IIP has the rare distinction of bagging twelve CSIR Best Technology awards and has also received FICCI, ICMA & NRDC awards several times for its technologies. About CSIRO Started as the Advisory Council of Science and Industry in 1916, and advanced Australia with a range of inventions and innovations that have had significant positive impact on the lives of people around the world. Our top ten innovations includes household products like Aerogard and Softly to everyday necessities like plastic bank notes and WiFi. We help grow Australia's productivity through excellent science that provides a positive impact for Australia.
